His book Israel, Palästina, Deutschland. Versuch einer Entwirrung has been published by Suhrkamp Verlag in the edition suhrkamp series.
In the book, Avner Ofrath examines the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in its entanglements with European history and debates. Moving beyond an understanding of the conflict as a purely regional one, he traces the historical contexts in which Jews and Muslims encountered one another and explores how these experiences shaped perceptions of self and other. The book also considers the particular role of Germany, where debates about Israel and Palestine intersect with questions of historical responsibility, migration, citizenship, and national identity.
